About me
My name is Carrie Singleton and I am based in York, UK. CRS Proofreading began in 2012 and I work from home as a freelance researcher, proofreader and transcriber. I am an Intermediate Member of the Chartered Institute of Editing and Proofreading and I currently work as a consultant copyeditor for the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (REU) and also at York Learning (York City Council’s Adult Education Department). Prior to this, I worked for nine years as a Research Fellow and then as a Lecturer in Sociology and Social Research Methods. I have a BA Hons in Philosophy and Sociology and a Masters in Social Development.
I have extensive experience of both writing and teaching at university level and understand the importance of well written essays and dissertations. I am published in peer-reviewed academic books and journals, alongside having authored book reviews, research reports, bids and diverse publications for a wide range of audiences.
I am happy to help across a wide range of subjects in the Social Sciences, Arts and Humanities. Additionally, I can assist you with personal documents such as CVs and letters, or written work for public dissemination.
Having worked in a university in both research and teaching, I recognise the importance of confidentiality and have an excellent understanding of what is required to produce successful work.
