Proofreading and copyediting

There are different levels of cost, modelled on the type of work you require. You can find details on these approaches here. My rates are based on CIEP recommended hourly rates, adjusted to a word count fee that represents the amount of time each type of work takes.

Proofreading: £14.00 per 1,000 words (identifying and amending errors in spelling, punctuation and grammar ready for publication).

Copyediting: £18.00 per 1,000 words (includes assisting with sentence structure and phrasing; identifying issues with consistency; ensuring referencing is accurate and complete; and amending errors in spelling, punctuation and grammar ready for publication).

Developmental editing: A more intensive approach to editing, which you may feel is more appropriate for your requirements. This is suitable for text that requires a specialised focus, additional research and checks, substantial revision/restructuring or multi-phase editing and proofreading. Fees are calculated per project.
